PERU

Advice Project Media's first bi-annual Leadership and Empowerment Summit was held in the Amazon River Basin at Inotawa Expeditions Ecolodge. 24 teens and women from Peru, Cameroon, Canada, and the USA came together for two weeks to write essays about gender and conservation issues, learn about the rainforest and indigenous rights, and discuss with their peers how to come up with applicable solutions to some of our planet's biggest problems.

We remain thankful to our partner in Peru, Inotawa Expeditions, for hosting us in the rainforest, and the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores del Perú in Lima and the Consulado General del Perú in New York City for their assistance with obtaining visas for the three Cameroonian nationals who were such vital members of our 2015 summit. Advice Project Media classes and workshops are free or sliding scale, and most of our students are from families unable to afford travel. Therefore, we thank the supporters who made donations and the countless individuals who gave their time, energy, and resources to ensure we could offer scholarships to girls and women from around the world so that they could attend our 2015 summit.

Blog posts, articles, and videos by some of our citizen youth journalists about our 2015 summit can be found here.
